On the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park, south of Estes Park, is a lesser explored region called the Wild Basin. Aptly named because the hikes in the Wild Basin take you to multiple waterfalls, up to alpine lakes, snowfields, and hidden areas of RMNP few travelers see. We’ve hiked and profiled a number of trails in the Wild Basin area. Check them out below to plan your hike or weekend trip into this beautiful region of Colorado.
Note: Rocky Mountain National Park now requires timed entry permits from May 27th through October 10th. See the RMNP permits page for more information.
